What they say after the numbers move.
“Hey Hannu, Sounds good. We can keep it thumbnails as is. I think they're pretty solid honestly. Yes, I am open to working together on future projects. I recently just added you to a Slack channel that I just created. So be on the lookout for that in your email.”

“Hi Hannu, Here you are: I’ve enjoyed working with Hannu so far and I’ve been really happy with his thumbnail designs! He’s super quick with delivery, open to feedback, and easy to work with. I appreciated how receptive he was to revisions, and the final designs came out looking great. Looking forward to working together more!”

I don’t chase pretty thumbnails. I chase videos that outperform expectations.
I’m a thumbnail designer for educational YouTubers. I obsess over the split-second decision a viewer makes on a homepage feed, not over gradients or bevels.
A thumbnail is a promise. The best ones create a specific, resolvable curiosity gap — the viewer immediately knows what they’ll get, and immediately wants it. Aesthetics are a byproduct, never the goal.
Pretty loses to curious. Every time. I benchmark against the top 5% of a channel’s niche and reverse-engineer why outliers outlier. Design decisions serve psychology, not the other way around.
Because their audience wants to learn something specific. That constraint makes psychology cleaner and CTR easier to move. I don’t work with lifestyle, prank, or entertainment channels — by choice.
“I don’t make beautiful thumbnails. I make thumbnails that make outliers.”
Four steps. Zero guessing.
I map your niche’s top 5%. I audit which thumbnails outlier, which ones die, and *why*.
We find the curiosity gap. The idea that makes a viewer stop mid-scroll and think, “wait, what?”
Visual hierarchy engineered for a 40x40px preview. Every element earns its pixel.
We ship, we measure, we adjust. CTR is a moving target — we chase it together.
Traditional designer vs. me.
- Makes things pretty.
- Focuses on Photoshop skills.
- Chases trends.
- Judges by “wow” factor.
- Thinks aesthetics = clicks.
- Studies CTR benchmarks first.
- Studies curiosity, then design.
- Studies viewer psychology.
- Judges by outlier ratio.
- Designs for the algorithm, not the eye.
Let’s make your next outlier.
